Description
A warm, creamy smoothie that captures the nostalgic flavors of apple pie without the need for baking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sweet apples, cored and chopped, skin on
- 1 cup milk of choice, warmed
- 1 tablespoon nut butter (almond or cashew)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup, to taste
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, plus a pinch of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons rolled oats or cooked oatmeal
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
Instructions
- Warm the milk on the stove or in the microwave until hot to the touch but not boiling. If your apples are very cold, warm them in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Add apples, warm milk, nut butter, oats, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and maple syrup to the blender. If using yogurt, add it now. Blend until silky.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as needed.
- Pour into a heat-safe mug or jar and serve warm. Reheat in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds if needed.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use plant-based milk and skip the yogurt. You can also add protein by including a scoop of protein powder or hemp hearts.
