Refreshing Plum Ginger Lemon Juice


Description

A bright and zippy drink that serves as a refreshing mocktail or a base for a gin sour cocktail.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe plums, pitted and chopped
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 12 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice
  • 2 ounces gin (optional for cocktail)
  • 0.75 ounce simple syrup or honey syrup (optional for cocktail)
  • 0.75 ounce fresh lemon juice (optional for cocktail)
  • 1 egg white (optional for cocktail)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine plums, peeled ginger, and lemon juice.
  2. Add 1 cup cold water and blend until smooth.
  3. Taste the mixture. If too tart, add honey or maple syrup to balance.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve for smoother juice if desired. Chill for 15 minutes.
  5. To make a gin sour, in a shaker, combine gin, plum ginger lemon juice, simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  6. Optional: Add egg white and dry shake without ice for 15 seconds.
  7. Add ice and shake again for 15 seconds.
  8. Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a thin plum slice or twist of lemon.
  9. For a mocktail, fill a glass with ice, add plum ginger lemon blend, top with sparkling water, and stir gently.

Notes

Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of plums. Experiment with different fruits and herbs for variations.
