Instant Pot Cinnamon Applesauce

Description

A cozy and easy recipe for making delicious cinnamon applesauce in the Instant Pot, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 to 8 medium apples, cored and chopped (about 3 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup water or apple juice
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional sweetener: 1 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Add chopped apples and water (or juice) to the Instant Pot. Sprinkle in cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice if using.
  2. Lock the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes.
  3. Let it naturally release for 10 minutes, then carefully quick release the rest.
  4. Open the lid and stir. The apples should be very soft.
  5. For chunky sauce, mash with a potato masher. For smooth sauce, blend with an immersion blender or carefully transfer to a blender in batches.
  6. Taste and decide if you want sweetener. Add a little at a time so you do not overdo it.

Notes

The choice of apples can greatly affect the flavor and sweetness of the applesauce. Use sweet apples for naturally sweet sauce.
