Golden Turmeric Oatmeal


Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger (or fresh)
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tbsp sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, warm the milk over medium-low heat.
  2. Whisk in turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and salt for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the oats and simmer gently, stirring often, for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and sweetener.

Notes

For meal prep, cook oatmeal slightly looser than desired and store in the fridge, adding a splash of milk when reheating.
