Scale
  • 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 8 to 10 fresh mint leaves, lightly bruised
  • 6 to 8 cups cold filtered water
  • Ice, optional
  • Fresh lemon or lime slices, optional

Instructions

  1. Wash the cucumber and mint well; leave the peel on for extra flavor.
  2. Slice the cucumber into thin rounds to enhance flavor infusion.
  3. Bruise the mint gently to release its aroma.
  4. Add cucumber and mint to a large pitcher and pour in the water.
  5. Chill for 30 minutes for a light flavor or 2 to 4 hours for a stronger infusion. Add ice if desired.
  6. Adjust to taste, adding more mint or citrus slices as preferred.

Notes

For best flavor, consume within 24 hours. You can refill with fresh water once or twice. Cucumber and mint can be eaten after steeping.
